Mountain grape vine weaving is one of the oldest folk handicrafts in our county. Danyun Chi'an area in the northwest of Yongtai is known as three ridges and five pits, each pit has rattan art . Making rattan bags starts with obtaining rattan. In the past, only old vines that were more than 10 years old and fully soaked in water during the rainy season could be used as raw materials for making rattan bags, which greatly increased the cost of rattan bags. Today, through research and development, Zhifu Industrial has overcome the bottleneck of grapevine aging. The carefully peeled grapevines must go through a series of complicated processes such as Guo Jianmen to determine the width and Guo Kuang Dao to determine the thickness before they can be sent to the weavers. Since rattan bags require high craftsmanship, currently only skilled craftsmen who have worked in the industry for many years can be competent in the weaving work. In addition to unique hand-made techniques, the material of rattan bags also comes from pure natural plants. Even the dyeing of the lining of the bag is green and natural. Zhifu uses raw persimmons as raw material, mashes them and puts them in a water tank for two years. This natural dye is not only anti-corrosive, insect-proof, environmentally friendly and pollution-free, but also has strong coloring power and will not fade even when exposed to water. Therefore, rattan bags woven from grapevines are also called living bags . Not only are they durable, but they will naturally rust over time, taking on a time-kissed color.
